Long break, was it afterall?

its been long since i wrote my last blog; wondering if i got too busy with stuff or what. Apparently i bought my piece in Cali and got busy fixing it up, what a pain, whether u have it or not; and that makes my mark into being a self employed unpaid and overused blue collar novice. Spent mah Christmas at home cleaning rain gutters, patching up roof, mowing font-backyard, winterizing pool, and that truly is not even the gist of it; amid all this, a financial breakdown (am not taking about Lehman or Detroit, my own). So sucked by Chase to the last penny to afford 45$ lift ticket in this snow-packed winter, come Jan, am hoping a bit of personal relief and enough to stress out my shiny board.

Pro Tibet protesters Scale Golden Gate Bridge

Tomorrow the Olympic torch relay is scheduled to go through the streets of San Francisco amid all kind of protests. On the eve there was a peaceful protest of sizable crowd with supporters, including Richard Gere, present to support the cause. Yesterday noon 3 supporters climbed up the cables of Golden Gate Bridge to unfurl giant banners "One World, One Dream: Free Tibet '08" and "Free Tibet". Even though I stay distant from politics, I think its time for China to bring in political maturity and time for it to act like a superpower, its on the verge of being, time to realize that freedom is a step forward and not a thing to be afraid of.

Summer is Back!!

Summer is back and its time for Fun :)
Took off from work last Friday and was in Yosemite Valley, Saturday moving around Tuolumne Meadows, Sunday in San Francisco downtown and fisherman wharf. Spent my Monday in Monterey.

This weekend was fun too, we camped at Portola Redwood State Park. The food was good and so was the long Saturday hike. Came back today and craving to go for my next trip the coming weekend.

trip back home

I'll be visiting India on 15th for 2 weeks and am not excited about it. Its been a long time since i visited back home and am dying to see my parents and sis again. But I would rather have them come here and spend time than me traveling back.
Journey back home is never easy, sitting on those squeeze seat for 19 to 22 hrs, getting through New Delhi custom and then dealing with taxiwallas; the awful infrastructure, bumpy rides, and traffic clogs are my biggest nightmares. Once home, the obligation to visit friends and those frequent power cuts makes life more miserable.
The 2 week so called "vacation" becomes an ordeal and more often than not i come back tired, exhausted and sick.
On a positive note, with my each visit, things are getting better, now that abrupt power supply is a power cut, there are some awesome shopping malls (i love to shop in india), and nicer places to visit. There's a change for good, ironically in spite of the country being on global map the change is so very slow that it wouldnt be kind of place i would like it to be at least in my lifetime.

half a million dollar baby

this is not a sequel, it’s the cost of my new love am planning to buy. I have been looking to buy a house in Bay Area for I guess more than 8 months now. Checked out a lot of places and whatever I liked was way beyond my budget, and the one that fit my wallet didn’t please me. This one I saw yesterday and it was like love at first sight, its in “Fremont” (and people say am obsessed with this city) a single family small home, best part no HOA dues. Though am not really sure if I can afford it, but I would like to give it a shot. The actual cost is 25 grands over the half metaphor. Wish this was a girl, I could just give it a Ring tomorrow and make it mine forever :)

Thrive

Heard the news of unfortunate death of Anna Nicole Smith, not that she was my favorite or something, but its unfortunate for someone so young to go through what she had to.
Our body is like any other machine; you got to take care of it. The better u take care of it, the better it’ll take care of you. Young kids don’t understand the importance of keeping inner self healthy and rather care about the looks (so was I when I was young). Like in her case, she went through slim treatment, silicon implants and multiple surgeries to get better looks, but was addicted to strong drugs, antidepressants, alcohol and smoke. Its like polishing your car every day but running it on adulterated fuel.
Please everyone, take care of your body, eat healthy, exercise, quit all bad habits (its never too late) and enjoy your life, cause you never know what future beholds, it could be a long or a short life, but live healthy as long as you live. Let this world remember you long after you are gone.

Colts won the XLI Super Bowl

Though I expected this to be a piece of cake for Bears, Colts indeed had an upper hand through out the game from second quarter onwards.
For last 3 nights I was in Yosemite camping in Snow!!, probably the coldest I ever camped in ;), every morning I got up with a thin layer of ice a top of my 1000 down sleeping bag I bought for my backpacking trips. Am happy that the gear worked as expected, thanks to 3 layers of padding (2 layers of thermarest pads and an insulation pad) and a fleece blanket over my sleeping bag, I slept quite well. I'll discuss it in a new blog page (Aloha) i'll upload pretty soon.
So back to the game, we were suppose to go for a brunch today in Yosemite after a tedious hike yesterday, but I convinced the guys I carpooled with to skip and start early morning so that I can catch up on game, and man it was fun. Colts were pretty good in rain in spite of first few fumbles (which Bears did too later in the game), and the best part was the interception of Grossman’s throw to Muhammad by backup cornerback Kelvin Hayden who took it for a touchdown!!.
Tony Dungy today kissed the trophy as a coach several years after winning it as a player, and Peyton Manning was named MVP.

Daylight-saving change could confuse gadgets

On Monday, US President signed an energy bill that will lengthen daylight-saving time by four weeks starting in 2007. The four-week extension could save the equivalent of 100,000 barrels of oil per day in energy use, --raising the possibility of a smaller-scale repeat of Y2K-like problems.
For most computer users, their computers will be updated with new software by then, or configured to connect to network time servers that will know the correct time.
But because not everyone's computer is networked or updated, some glitches could occur, especially in consumer electronics devices that aren't designed to be reprogrammed.

honey r u okay..?

Wish my car could answer this, bumped my beloved Prius to pole at my apartment parking lot :(, God what can i do about it, i love my car and take care of it so much, thankfully its just some scratches to the rear right door. need to get it fixed as soon as i get better, have been on bed for 2 days now, think its food poising after eating at a popular Indian restaurant. I hope i don’t need to take my car to body shop for repaint, that would cost a little too much. If you got any suggestions to fix it please email me.

70's golden era in music

Not sure if its cause i was born in 70s or it really is, i am so obsessed with 70s musik. When it comes to music I love verity, from R&B/hip-hop/soul/Reggae to Country, Rock to Pop, Indie to Blues, I listen to almost everything, but nothing hits me like 70s, offcourse I cant ignore 50s and 60s for bringing Beatles and Elvis. Mid 60s to 70s was the era of music composers and lovers, I think the time churned out greatest music lovers, as hippie culture and drugs contributed to a new wave of thinking and brought many legendary artists who have been biting dust to the center stage of worlds music. I'll slowly recall every possible artist of that era i like and list them down here with time. So here it goes in random order
Led Zeplin, Eagels, Elton John, Bob Dylan, temptations, Grateful Dead, Pink Floyd, Bee Gees, KISS, Van Halen, Queen, The Doors, Bruce Springstien, MeatLoaf, The Who, The Rolling Stones, AC/DC, Def Leppard, Black Sabbath, Kiss, Iron Maiden, Atomic Rooster, Deep Purple, Jethro Tull, Billy Joel, Abba, Dire Straits, Eagles, John Lennon, and the list continues..

Watching you walk away

I've lived my life alone for past 13 yrs, long enough for anyone to know what life is all about. The time just doesn’t fly off, I’ve lived every moment of it, the moment of highs and lows, pleasure and pain, time of luxury and time without a penny for meal, time of borrowing from friends and time of lending it forever. I’ve come a long way and some of it I attribute to my principles, though sometimes shaky I stick to most of the times.
Have gone through all this and being at a point where every goal seems achievable and every wish seems granted, I never though there would be a juncture when I’ll find myself so helpless that I wont have a stake in my own life. At the point in my life when it came to making a very important decision, I surrendered to things that are against my principles & beliefs, and I realized that am not alone, what I do matters to everyone around me, it just that everything I did so far was acceptable and noone ever made me feel the presence, but when I wanted to take a different course, I heard several voices, voices that care about me, not about my thoughts. Its not that am heart broken, am disappointed, disappointed that I couldn’t convey the message I wanted someone to get, I couldn’t make someone hear what my heart said and that every word I said was true and well thought, disappointed that we decided to part without giving ourselves an opportunity.

elevator mystery

Well we moved to our new building in foster city a few months back and my office is on 6th floor. Like any other normal lazy guy I take elevator couple of times a day, and I think out of 4 elevators, one works the hardest, u press the button and 7 out of 10 times this elevator which is second one to the right would reach to u, ready to serve you, I wish there was a way for me to reward this elevator and set it as an example for other 3 lazy elevators to learn.
Another thing i noticed, while I am waiting for the elevator to come up, more often than not the one behind me shows up, believe me, its never the one in front of me, and probably not the one to my right or left.. its always the one behind me.. no matter which one am I looking at. am so bedazzled by this mystery that i thought of writing it up.. I have a medical checkup due later this month, will let you know if its me ;)

Death Cab For Cutie

They've been around for 10 yrs i guess and there aint a lot of poeple who would recognize them till yesterday and now suddenly like everyone knows them. It all paid off with 2 Grammy nomination. I think 'I'll follow you into the dark' is well composed and sung, my vote for it, i really feel happy when talent comes up after a long struggle and get the fame they deserve.

wedding nightmare

i wrote almost 200 lines of this blog and before i could save it the blue screen demon wiped it all out :(, let me try and recreate it.
It all started when i admitted to my parents that am planning to marry this girl i have known for a while, though they agreed, things didn’t go well between us and we wrapped it up. Now my parents know that i intend to get married and they are scanning all north Indian Brahmin girls in TOI matrimonial section. So what if i take that route, first, our parents would go for a horo match, then they'll talk about each other family and values. Last thing in the list would be for me to meet the girl for few minutes and come out with my decision, by then if everything else works out, pressure would be so much that i wont be able to say no, even if i wont even know how she looks behind that makeup she got from around the corner beauty parlor, doh?. Imagine, I agree and we get married and then next morning she, after taking a shower, is sitting in a group of same age women, now’s the real problem, how would i recognize who my wife is? 'cause the girl i saw till now (and that’s twice, first time on the day i had to decide and next time on the day of our marriage) aint wearing that makeup anymore, and i cant figure out which one did i get married to.
I have a good american friend I work with, he is married for 5 yrs, has a 6 yr old daughter, was living with his gf for 7 yrs when they decided to get married and by that time their daughter was already one.
Offcourse that aint gonna happen to me, but atleast God would i get a chance to know my girl a little better than a few dates?
In between all this, there's an escape route I am planning, if i can somehow dodge this on my next India visit in March and enroll for an MBA by Nov of next year, i may get lucky for another 3 yrs.

I am addicted to Blog

I know i have to get up at 5 in the morning to be at work by 6:30 on an official call, its so late that i should have been on bed like 2 hrs back but am so addicted to Blog that there came a new idea and i had to start my laptop to write this up.. Atleast the basic idea then i can elaborate it later, So the funny new topic,
When its time to get married (scary thought), all of us has the image of that perfect girl or guy and try to find the closest match to that image, and one day out of the blue with some compromises and little tweaks to our imagination we settle down on something (someone) first few months go pretty smooth and then one day you wake up next to that person only to find that she/he wasn’t the one you wanted. Unfortunately, you didn’t pick her/him from Costco with an option to exchage after a few trials. So whats different in what u thought and this person actually is?
First thing u'll notice is that the guy farts, now where the hell did that come from, that dream guy on that white stallion never did that, aaw. For guys, the girl has an annoying hysteric laughter in contrast to their dream girl wrapped in white wedding gown with feathers of white pigeons and a smile that shines and laughter thats like sound of sweet music.
And then she doscovers that the guy aint that neat (offcourse he's a normal guy and we are not clean, and those who are and you get one of them, may God be with you), and he finds out that she don’t prepare food the way his mom does (well isn't she a different women?)...
Then

Black, Brown, Red, White and Yellow (in alphabetical order)

I guess I covered all skin color we categorize human race in (offcourse there are flavors like tan and others, but lets consider these for time being). And i was wondering which color do I like, though the answer would be all of them, but if i have to pick one what would it be? So let me take a litmus test (i was pretty bad in chemistry, though my sis is a PhD, whatever) and see which one do I really like.
So first one (again not in order of preference but in alphabetical), Black, lots of positives, more pigments means better protection from sun's ultraviolet rays. The color looks lot richer and healthy (and I have attraction to it, but am not gonna count that here). Personally i feel blacks are spontaneous, more natural and very talented.
Brown, again attractive rich color, hard working people, intelligence is how i associate them with, one thing i hate about Browns is that they further distingush their complexion as White, Fair, Wheatish and Dark, I mean comeon, does it really matter? You are Brown and thats the truth, live with it and don’t try to judge by the color of skin. Brown people with a little fair complexion (not really) consider themself superior or better looking (excuse me).
Red, dont know much about them, except that this land belongs to them. I think they are very hard working, something like Browns.
White, a lots' been said about this color and is universally accepted to be the most attractive. I need to admit, white are a very thoughtful, and that’s one big reason for sucess of this race.
Which brings me to the last one, Yellow, quite intelligent and hardworking but i find them so very obsessed with white that I just don’t get it.

So my conclusion, my favourite color of skin would be "BLACK".

A's coming to Fremont, am I dreaming?

The news is a few days OLD and its TRUE!! A's are coming to Fremont, very close to where i live. CISCO is bringing them in with new A's ballpark. My best guess would be that they'll be CISCO A's rather than Fremont A's, but I wish am wrong.

Religion, Spirituality and Superstition

There's a thin line between these and is defined by every individual.. Me, I consider myself religious, which includes morning prayers (thou i take Sundays off, thats cause I get up in evening :), special prayers on Tuesdays and a few temple visits every now and then. I believe in God, her power and agree that "Thou shall ripe the fruit of thy doing", needless to say am a God fearing man.
Same person and there's a different side of me, I listen to R&B and Hip Hop more often than any other forms of musik (and you know what the shit that is), I never picked up my JanamKundali and don’t believe future can be written on paper, I believe in Karma and that each of us is "Self Made". I don’t believe marriages are made in Heaven and don’t think there's Good or Bad Luck, even though I wish everyone a good luck just to see smile on their face.
I still haven't figured out spiritual side of me and thats what confuses me, and get more confused when i meet people who are supposedly spiritual, using spirituality as an excuse to shy away from truth and responsibilities, a reason to run away from reality. Real nightmare is when I think about spirituality bridging gap between Religion and Superstition. I could be wrong, and I wish I am wrong, bit I still have to figure it out.

Always thought I was a good swimmer till i decided to take lessons before i go and explore the bay, and as it came out, today I realized it aint that easy. Relation between Relativity Quantum and String theories

These are the most difficult concepts i have ever come across. For starters, these theory are laid out to explain the existence of UNIVERSE (i mean not man, not animal, not even earth and solar system, its trying to explain damn Universe), jokes apart, i'll make a sincere effort to write it in my words. Lets start with General Relativity, published by Einstein which unifies special relativity (space and time) with Law of gravitation...
Compiling the rest..
